Billy de, years ago we spoke about my coming out to be there for your service. Sadly, that has come to pass. I was happy to be there and sad I had to be there because that meant that you were gone.
We both worked at The Seattle Times. I would sneak out from work and cross the street where you worked so you could have a cigarette and I would listen to you tell me stories about how you worked with celebrities while living life to its fullest. I loved your stories. The best memory I have of us together was when we, and a group of my friends, got together for dinner before we walked across the street to see Dame Edna while she was playing in Seattle. I still have the flower that Dame Edna gave to you and then you gave to me. We were in some of the best seats in the house for that show. You had a laugh I loved. Your energy always made me feel good when I left you. I know that things didn't always go right for you, but you looked on the bright side of life just a little harder when that was happening.
I will miss you buddy, Mr. Billy de...
