Wayne E Nibert's Obituary
Wayne died peacefully October3, 2024 after a courageous and valiant 18 year battle against the devastating effects of a stroke. Wayne was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 10, 1937. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, children, Bryan (Catherine) of Westerville, Ohio, Bradley (Angela) on Sarasota, Florida and Brenton (Christy) on Burlington, Kentucky; five granddaughter, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and three step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Velva Nibert, brothers, Leo and Carroll Nibert and sister, Collenn Haag.
He was an accomplished athlete in his younger years and remained a sport enthusiast. His senior year in high school he was co-captain of the basketball and football teams and later was selected on The Columbus Dispatch’s All Mid-Six basketball and football teams. He graduated from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy and during his career Wayne worked in the investigation unit of the Patrol. He was awarded Superintendent Citations and other Certificates on Recognition during his career. After retiring from the Ohio Highway Patrol, he accepted a security position at Pantex in Amarillo, Texas. Soon after his promotion he returned to Ohio and worked at Martin-Marietta before retiring and moving to Spring Hill, Florida.
Wayne was an avid golfer winning many tournaments and had twelve holes-in-one. The first hole-in-one was at Hunsley Hills Golf Club Canyon, Texas, ten in Timber Pines, and the last hole-in-one at World Woods. In addition, he had 5 hole-in-one on the Highlands. He enjoyed playing bridge where he earned ACBL master points.
Wayne served as an elder many years and led a Christian Life. He deeply loved God, his family, friends, and his country.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Brooksville, Florida.
