Walter E Wiedemann's Obituary
Wiedemann, Walter E.
November 24, 1927 - July 9, 2020
Walter passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Devoted, beloved husband of 68 years to Mary (née Maloney), cherished father of Andrea McCarthy (Jack) and Brenda Derfner (Donald), revered grandpa of Julie, Matt and Graham, and adored “Uncle Gene” to his nieces and nephews. He will live deep in our hearts forever.
Born and raised in New York City, Walter attended Fordham Prep and University, before shipping out to the South Pacific with the U.S Navy during WW II. He began his career as a Master Brewer with Rheingold Breweries in Brooklyn, NY and was honored to hold the title President of the Master Brewer’s Assn. of New York.
Elected Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Valley Stream, NY, Walter went on to serve as District Deputy of Nassau County K of C as well.
He spent his retirement in Spring Hill in Timber Pines where he charmed his neighbors and enjoyed the “good life!”
Walt performed extraordinary charitable works at St. Vincent DePaul in Spring Hill and was a fixture there for over 20 years, until his 92nd birthday.
A visitation will be held on Monday July 13, 2020, from 2 to 4 pm at Grace Memorial Funeral Home. Masks will be required. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent DePaul Society
at 1291 Kass Circle, Spring Hill, FL 34606 or svdphernando.org
would be greatly appreciated.
