Walter and my grandfather, Joe Johnston, worked together and were friends for many years. When my grandfather died, Walter and Mary invited me to stay with them and showed me many kindnesses that I will never forget. I was sorry to hear of Walter's death but glad he is at peace with his Lord.
Walter was a wonderful person, intelligent, humorous, a good host and very kind to everyone.
It's a shame that he left, but I think we'll see each other again in heaven.

It was an honor to have known him. He was a kind, witty and lovable man whom my father also remembered well. I recall the wonderful hours we spent with him and his wife in their lovely home in Maryland, and their hospitality. I will always remember that.

Uncle Walter was a very special person in our lives; and I will always remember how he made The Christmas Eve Parties extra special by playing Santa Claus, leading us into prayers, songs and he always remembered to mention loved ones that have passed away.
