Richard L. Ford's Obituary
Richard L. Ford, 87, of Spring Hill, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 19th, 2016. Richard was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania to James Ford and Nellie Jeffries on October 16th, 1928. Richard worked the first half of his life for the Y.M.C.A. while raising his young family. His proudest moment was building and opening the Expressway Branch Y.M.C.A. in North Buffalo N.Y. in 1968. What began as a garage with a dream became a beautiful new building. Later Richard became the Director of Parks and Recreation for the town of Huntington on Long Island. He remained in that position until his retirement in 1994. He and his wife Shirley retired to Spring Hill, Florida that year. There they enjoyed swimming, the Saint Petersburg beaches and their grandchildren until Shirley’s passing in 2014. They were married for 63 years and he dearly missed her every day. He is finally reunited with his wife. He is survived by his four children ; Steve and his wife Arlene; Debra; James and his wife Sue and Sheri and her husband Larry; his ten grandchildren; Jennifer; Kristen; Dylan; Nick; Cody; Jimmy; Kathryn; Chris; Matt and Deanna; his 6 great-grandchildren; Xionen; Elijah; Sydney; Sierra ; Mackenzie and Maverick. He will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held at 12noon until 2pm on Wednesday July 27th, 2016 at Grace Memorial Funeral Home, 16931 U.S. Hwy. 19 North, Hudson. A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM on Wednesday July 27th, 2016 at Grace Memorial Funeral Home, (727)863-5471.
