James J Powers' Obituary
James J Powers, 68, of Brooksville, Fl. passed away December 3, 2015 at home. Funeral services will be held Saturday 1 pm at Grace Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at noon. A native of Yonkers, New York he came to the area in 1994 from Rockland, NY. James was a retired Operating Engineer for Local 14 IUOE in New York. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was awarded 3 Bronze Stars. Mr. Powers was Catholic by faith and attended St. Frances Catholic Church in Spring Hill. He was preceded in death by his son, James, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 45 years Phylis; 2 daughters Danielle Powers and Alexis McCabe and husband Ron both of Brooksville, FL; 3 brothers, Tommy Powers of Staten Island, NY, John Powers of PA and Patrick Powers of Yonkers, NY; sister, Kitty Grant of CT; 2 grandchildren Gabrielle and Adrianna McCabe of Brooksville, FL.
