I met Ernie about 20 years ago at the Baltimore airport when I needed help to move my boat from the Chesapeake to Clearwater. We hit it off on the phone and he was a good shipmate. I knew he was into boat racing but he understood my trawler maxed out at 8 mph. It took us 2 weeks to make the trip and we did hit some weather but he never complained and was a good helmsman. We solved all the world’s problems in those 2 weeks. I know he had his health issues in recent years but we tried to keep in touch. It was easy to see that family, sports, and boating were Ernie’s priorities
My condolences to Vicki and his family for their loss. He was a good man and a team player
