Edward Dean Francis, 78, of Port Richey passed away on April 19, 2023. He was born November 4, 1944 in Columbus Ohio to the late Cyrus and Myrtle Francis. Edward was a graduate of The Ohio State University, and was a life long Ban Read Obituary
Mr. Francis began his teaching career at Allen East, and did we ever challenge him! He always reminded me of Darren on Bewitched when we would get him frustrated. I thoroughly enjoyed him as a teacher, and will always remember the year he asked me to play the piano part on "Theme from the Apartment" with the band.
I had the opportunity to reach him via telephone a few years ago when I was trying to get contact information for a class reunion, hoping we could get some of our teachers to attend. (A lot of our teachers were just out of college when my class was in high school). I enjoyed talking with him on the phone, and I think he enjoyed hearing also from someone from his first teaching job.
On behalf of all of us in the Allen East community who knew and loved him, I offer our sincerest sympathies to the family.

I believe Mr. Francis's very first teaching job out of college was Allen East High School. And I believe we surely tested his decision to teach a high school band!
I remember one spring while practicing on the "streets of Lafayette" for a parade, that the entire percussion section 'exited' our marching lines for the sidewalk. I feel so guilty for giving him "the reddest (mad) face" ever!
