Donald G. Whiteside's Obituary
Donald Gene Whiteside, 72, of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Donald was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 20th, 1948, and spent his childhood years in Fortville, Indiana. Upon high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelors degree in Social Studies and Secondary Education. He was employed by the Pinellas County School Board and was a beloved teacher and coach for 30 years. He was a faithful member of the Brooksville church of Christ. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Sowards Whiteside of 48 years; son, Christopher (Afua), Janelle and Isabelle Whiteside; daughter, Shannon (Shaun), Ashlyn and Lillian Hull; daughter, Michelle (Dennis) and Donovan Earley; sisters, Janice Threet and Judy (Carl) Hickle; brother-in-law, Carmel Vaughn; and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Vonda Evelyn Whiteside Bainter; father, Nathan Marshall, sisters, Linda (Jim) Yager, Deborah Vaughn, and brother-in-law Bob Threet. A graveside service for the immediate family will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 12:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
