Delia "Dee" Stokell's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Delia (Dee) Fay Stokell, who tragically died on May 29, 2025, while undergoing a procedure at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. Dee was the cherished wife of Tom Stokell, with whom she shared a loving marriage since 2008.
Born in Durban, South Africa, Dee was the beloved daughter of Cliff and June Morris. She pursued her education at the University of Natal, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dee began her career as a teacher in her hometown before emigrating to the United States in 1976.
In the U.S., Dee found her professional calling in the financial sector, joining Franklin Templeton in 1980/1981. She served with dedication and excellence, eventually becoming Supervisor of Correspondence, a role she held until her retirement in 2014.
A deeply spiritual woman, Dee was raised and confirmed in the Anglican Church. She embraced life with joy and grace, finding happiness in traveling, ballroom dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Her love for wildlife and the great outdoors was a defining part of her generous and kind-hearted spirit.
Dee is survived by her loving husband Tom, her devoted son Chris Birnie-Visscher, her sister Ingrid Steele, and brother-in-law Bevis Steele. She will be remembered always for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for nature and humanity.
A funeral service will be held on June 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather 30 minutes prior to the service for a time of remembrance and fellowship.
