I'm so sorry for your loss. You and he had a great bond. Although I never met him, you always talked about the wonderful times you and Darryl experienced together, and your love for him was evident the way you spoke of him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I was privileged to work with Darryl for a short time at Lilly. He was always calmly solving problems and just plain "getting things done". Darryl would never let you down. As many others have commented, he always had a great story or experience to share. I was truly sorry to see him leave Lilly, but happy that he was entering a new phase in life. He'll be missed by many. May his memory be eternal.

I first met Darryl at work 38 years ago when I was just "starting out", and he would periodically keep me out of trouble. Over 20 years later, at the time of his retirement, we had been working together again for a number of years, and I can honestly say he was still busy keeping me out of trouble. He was a source of stability in the turbulent times, and a man I looked up to. I missed him when he retired; I miss him more now. My condolences and prayers to family and friends.

Darryl was such a great person to know. When he sat next to me at Lilly, he told me many stories about his youth and his adventurous experiences, and I always enjoyed talking with him. He was highly intelligent as a problem solver and of a fine character.
My sincere condolences to Darryl's family on the loss of a very good man. I have worked with a lot of fine people here at Lilly, but none any finer than Darryl. Although he was fairly quiet, when he had something to say it was a good idea to listen because it was always filled with wit, wisdom, and creative ideas for solving whatever problem was at hand. We worked together in the same group for about 5 years, and working with Darryl was not only fun and rewarding, but he could always be relied upon regardless of the situation. The world needs more good men like Darryl, and he will be certainly be missed.
