Carson Leander Jones Jr.'s Obituary
Carson Leander Jones Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Florida. He was the beloved husband of the late Bernita Jones, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on August 3, 1944, in Princeton, Indiana, Carson was the son of the late Carson Jones Sr. and Martha Belle Jones (née Yeast). A hardworking and dedicated man, Carson spent 40 years as a plumber with Woody Tucker Plumbing before continuing his career as a counter man at Castle Supply, a plumbing supply store.
Carson was deeply involved in his community and helped establish Hudson Little League baseball in the 70s, leaving a lasting impact on generations of young athletes. He was also known for his warm heart and generous spirit, bringing joy to countless children by playing Santa Claus for 40 years—beginning at Bealls and later becoming affectionately known as the “Ridge Manor Santa.” For the past two decades, children lined up for miles just to see him, their faces lighting up with smiles at the sight of his familiar red suit.
He found joy in simple pleasures—riding his Polaris around the neighborhood, collecting and recycling cans, fishing, and watching television. Carson was a friend to everyone he met, always eager to share a story or lend a listening ear. His two dogs, Gracie and Sprinkles, were his constant companions and brought him immense comfort and happiness.
Above all, Carson lived for his wife, Bernita. He never said no to her and cherished every moment they spent together.
Carson is survived by his loving daughter, Leann Hindman; his grandson, Jesse Hindman; and his sisters, Marci Jones Ranes and Glenda Kay Sewell. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Mitzi Ferderber and Donnabel Whitehouse.
His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
