Mr. Calvin Ray Wallace Sr.'s Obituary
Calvin Ray Wallace Sr., affectionately known as “Ray-Ray”, was born on January 30, 1958, in Brooklyn New York, to his loving parents, the late Oliver Wallace Jr. and Sheila Logan.  He was their only child. His early childhood years were spent in Brooklyn NY.  During his adolescence, his stepfather, the late Mr. Edward Logan, his mom, and Ray-Ray moved to Cambria Heights NY.   Ray-Ray relocated to Spring Hill in 1994.
Ray-Ray was raised in the church, singing in the Sunshine Band & the Glee Club.  Ray-Ray loved music and played the drums.  As a young man, he could be found listening to and mixing music; he also loved playing basketball.
Ray-Ray was educated in the New York City public schools.  He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, in Cambria Heights and went on to Cortland State College, majoring in sociology with a minor in education.   After college he married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Kingsberry Wallace and to that union Calvin Ray Wallace Jr. was born.  In 1995, Ray-Ray celebrated the birth of his beautiful daughter Shaya Rai Wallace.
As an only child, Ray-Ray had a special connection to his aunts and to his first-cousins; Delphine Brock, Wayne Freeman, Barry & Raynette McKnight, which were considered as his siblings.  He always remembered birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions.  Ray-Ray loved all his family and made them a priority.  He was devoted to his mom, children and grandchildren. Throughout his professional life his gift of caring was reflected.  He was a counselor at the Rap House (Youth and Family Alternatives) in New Port Richey and at the ARC of The Nature Coast.  Ray-Ray was a loving and giving man and his work well validated his career choices of helping youth and families who needed his compassion most.  Ray-Ray also volunteered as a Guardian Ad Litem; his ability to view situations objectively made him suited to assist families experiencing crisis.
Ray-Ray leaves memories to be cherished by his loving and devoted Mother: Sheila Logan; Son: Calvin Ray Wallace Jr.; Daughter: Shaya Rai Wallace; Grandchildren: Monique & Julian Wallace; Aunts: Lois McKnight, Jacqueline Davidson, Rose Crain, E. Jean Bonds and Sharon Brooks; Uncles: James Gholson (Weenie) and Eric Wright; Special Friend: Colleen Beckett; and a host of beloved family members, friends, and co-workers.
A Celebration of His Life and Home Going Services will be held Wednesday July 22, 2015 at 1:00 PM, Grace Memorial Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends starting at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Grace Memorial Gardens.
