Its taken me forever to write something and this isnt easy:(. I Remember the first day i met you i was 11 years old. Me and my brother went to the rap house and from the beginning we kicked it off... I spent alot of my childhood at the rap house with you. Over the years we grew a father and son relationship. We grew very close and you were a father to me...i was proud to call you dad. You even told everyone i was one of your sons... I looked up to you and you guided me in life and you were always there for me... Even as i grew i would call you every other week and every year id call you 12:01 to wish you a happy birthday... You were proud of the man i was growing into. I went to see you every chance i got. We always talked. Youd tell me about your trips to new York when you went to visit your family. You told me about your mother... You said one day we would go together so i could meet everyone. When i found out you were sick and in the hospital..i came to see you and we talked a little but i held back my tears when i saw you bc i wanted to be strong for you.. I myself ended up sick and on hospital... So when i got out and you werent answering your phone bc you would always call me back and you didnt and in my heart i had a bad feeling that something was wrong... My wife told me and i just broke down and cried..i couldnt believe it and i wouldnt except it... We went to the site and i just couldnt believe it...i told my wife no he will call me back he always did... Till this day i miss you so much and you live in my heart. You never got the chance to meet my son. But i bring him with me when i visit you mostly. So i know spiritually you have met him.i know you are looking down and you are proud of the man i have become and the father i have become. I miss you dearly so so much...and the memories and the times we spent together and talked. I will cherish and i hold them close to me. You taught me alot in life but living with this pain of you being away. I cant let go and i dont know what to do. I am lost. But in my heart and what keeps me going is that i still see you and talk to you and i know you arent far... I love you dad. R.I.P and Fly High. Love always Derick Nelson.

I was so sad to receive word of Ray's passing, and I'm very sorry for your loss. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I worked with Ray for about a year at the RAP House, where we had a lot of laughs and quality conversations. I'll not forget that, and I'll not forget him.
