I remember listening to old war stories from Mr. Groppe when we were kids. He would take me and Joe out back and show us how to hit the heavy bag, sharing more stories of his time in New Jersey. He always welcomed me into their home and was always supportive of all the kids, not just his own. He was a great man and will be dearly missed.
