Wilma Rose's Obituary
Wilma M. Rose, 91, of Hudson, Florida, passed away surrounded by family, on January 15, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Wilma will be remembered for her quiet strength, her love of family, and the joy she found in life’s simple, meaningful moments. Born on March 23, 1934, in Gerlaw, Illinois, Wilma grew up surrounded by the warmth of a close-knit family. The daughter of a generation that valued hard work and compassion, she lived by those same principles throughout her life. Her journey was one of love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Wilma married the love of her life, James Richard “Rich” Rose, and together they built a home that was filled with laughter, care, and the kind of love that endures far beyond a lifetime. Their marriage was a partnership in every sense—a bond rooted in mutual respect, shared dreams, and the countless small moments that knit two lives together. Though Rich preceded her in death, the love they shared remained one of her proudest treasures.
Professionally, Wilma worked as a Medical Records Technician until her retirement, a role that perfectly suited her meticulous nature and deep compassion. Her work reflected her belief in the importance of helping others and her dedication to accuracy and service. Those who worked alongside her admired her calm presence and reliability.
Outside of work, Wilma delighted in spending time with her family and immersing herself in her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed reading, knitting, beading, and diamond painting—creative outlets that reflected her patience and eye for detail. Each crafted piece reflected her care and thoughtfulness, often shared lovingly with those she cherished most.
Wilma’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Judith Hudson, Nancy Witzig (Dan), Jay Rose (Simone), Timothy Rose (Glenda), Jamie Rose (Martie), Melissa Rose (Jeff) and grandchildren: Rachel, Jay, Jamie, Blake, Dylan, Devon, and Layla. Along with two great grandchildren, Kaylee and Elizabeth. She also leaves behind her sisters, Jo Ann Kirman and Ruth Ann Taylor. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rich, and her sisters, Margaret Morris and Helen Anderson. Her family will forever remember her warmth, her gentle humor, and her constant encouragement.
Though she made her home in Florida in her later years, Wilma’s heart always belonged to Illinois, where lasting friendships and family roots remained strong. A Celebration of Life will be held in East Peoria, Illinois, where loved ones will gather to honor her enduring spirit and the many lives she touched.
Wilma’s story is one of devotion—to her family, to her work, and to the small joys that made life beautiful. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on through her children and grandchildren. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
