Willie Lee Haywood-Resmondo's Obituary
We are her today to honor Ms. Willie Lee Haywood – Resmondo, better known to most as Billie. Ms. Billie was born on April 16th 1930 in Davenport, Florida. Her parents were Roscoe Stephenson Haywood and Nina Mae Boyd. She had one Brother, Raymond Stephenson Haywood and a sister Susie Edda Haywood- Lones. Both her siblings passed away young in life.
Ms. Billie was married to Lem Calvert Resmondo they were married for twenty-one years. They had three children: Larry Calvin, Marsha Ann and Gene Ray.
Ms. Billie had the pleasure of five grandchildren: Larry Calvin Jr., Sherrie Lynn, Shannon Marie, Lenton Craig and Gene Ray Jr.
Ms. Billie had six great grandchildren: Randy Resmondo, Chris Resmondo, Jeff Kinard, Russell Resmondo, Kristina Resmondo and Sierra Resmondo. She also has one great-great grandchild: Darrell Stone Resmondo.
Ms. Billie spent her younger years raising her family and working at Publix Supermarket. She retired from Publix’s after 32 ½ years. She enjoyed working with all the people. They spent summers on Took Lake camping, swimming, fishing and just having a really good time. She was a Baptist and took her family to church every Sunday morning and every Wednesday night.
When she retired from Publix’s she spent her time gardening, raising orchids, going fishing with Marsha and Chuck on the Withlacoohee River where they fished for stump knockers and war mouth perch. They also loved to go to Lake Panasoffkee and catch bluegills which you could pull in one right after another.
She went on a trip with Larry and Rita to the Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and Zion National Park. She remarked that the trip out west was the trip of a life time. She really enjoyed seeing all the different landscapes out west.
Gene and his family took Ms. Billie on a trip to the mountains in North Carolina. They had a really rare experience. An albino skunk came into their camp and they had to be really careful not to scare it. No one wanted to have to smell like skunk on their vacation.
Ms. Billie mainly enjoyed spending time with her family, all the kids and grandkids. She loved to get together for Thanksgiving dinner, or just setting around the camp fire listening to the guitars being played or just being together meant the world to her.
She loved sitting on her porch watching the birds and squirrels playing in her back yard. She loved to read; she read a lot and was always informed on most all subjects which would really surprise you. She would set on her porch reading her bible every Sunday morning. She also was an avid Gator fan and loved to watch the Buccaneer football game every Sunday afternoon that they were on.
I could go on with stories for days about thing that happen with Mom and her kids, grandkids and great grandkids but it all bowls down to she loved hard and was loved immensely.
Ms. Billie loved life that is for sure. If she decided to do something, she had a strong will and don’t get in her way. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for you that was just Mom!
In lieu of flowers you may donor to Hospice in her honor.
