William A. Scheiblein's Obituary
William A. Scheiblein, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 21, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. Happy resident of New Port Richey FL since 1985. Worked at Bell of PA for 38 years, thanks to his father in law Thomas Oliver. Bill married Tom and Martha Oliver’s daughter Mary Jayne Oliver in 1948 and was thrilled for the opportunity to work for a great company! Bill always said he never found out if he passed the employment exam for Bell Telephone- he just knew his father in law made it happen. He rose through the ranks to management. Dad spent many years in the Motor Vehicle Department of Bell Telephone, and these were his favorite working years. Dad loved cars, restoring a 1953 Buick Skylark convertible.
Bill and Jayne raised their 3 children Steve, Sharon and Scott in Somerton, an idyllic place in Northeast Philadelphia. Dad felt like he’d “made it” after moving there.
Married for 66 years to his sweetheart Jayne, life truly began when they retired to Florida in 1985. Bill lived and played in the Summertree community of NPR. He finally got to play all the golf he could ever dream of. He harvested “lost” golf balls and sold them back to the golfers. He earned the nickname “Birdhouse Bill” for his flea market industry selling birdhouses he made from scrap wood. He loved turning trash into treasure. Neighbors would alert him if an item was curbside that Dad could fix up and sell. He loved fishing, bowling and taking Mom to the Outlets shopping. Bill is survived by his sister Joyce Mason of Lansdale PA, children Steve (Mary Fran) of Southampton PA, Sharon of Hudson FL and Scott of Greentown PA. Grandchildren are Scott Scheiblein and Brian Scheiblein. Per his wishes, no service at this time.
Grace Memorial Funeral Home, 16931 U.S. Hwy. 19 North, Hudson, FL, 34667, 727-863-5471 is in charge of arrangements.
