William A. McCracken's Obituary
William A. McCracken, 96, of Hudson, Florida passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014. He was born on November 26, 1917 in Wind Ridge, Pennsylvania to William H. and Grace T. McCracken. He is a Christian, and a Presbyterian by denomination. William's family remembers him as a quiet man who led a big life. He graduated from Waynesburg College in 1939. He was a commercial airline pilot with American Airlines for 34 years, and was involved in the American Airlines Grey Eagles after retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of fourteen years Martha; children, William L. McCracken (Barbara) and Barbara Groppe (George); step-children, Wayne Jackson (Douglass Ann) and Susan Davidson (Robert); siblings, Robert McCracken and Esther Conklin; eleven grandchildren: Jennifer Gaines (Pete), William S. McCracken (Jessica), Gregory L. McCracken (Lauren), Andrea Harris (Bruce), Jeffrey J. McCracken (Kristine), Paula Groppe, Amanda Groppe, Sonja Jackson, Michelle Courtney (Bobby), Stephanie Bader (Russell), Whitney McNeely (Jay) and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son James R. McCracken in 1992, his first wife, Sara Sue (Orrison) McCracken in 1985, his sister Helen Carpenter, his sister Ruth Rusinko and his sister Marion McCracken.
