William "Bill" Bishop's Obituary
William “Bill” Louis Bishop, 95, of Hudson, Florida, formerly of Glen Gardner, NJ passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born October 25, 1927 in Hillside, New Jersey, the son of the late Charles and Amelia (Heller) Bishop. He graduated Hillside High School in 1945. He was a World War II Veteran and served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1948 aboard the USS Curtiss and USS Tarawa.
Bill built his own home in Glen Gardner in 1959. He served as a Councilman for the Borough of Glen Gardner for 42 years before retiring in 2004 and moving full-time to Hudson, FL. He was a member of the Glen Gardner Fire Department and VFW Post 5119 and attended Hudson First United Methodist Church.
Bill worked for American Can Company in Hillside and Washington, New Jersey for 43 years, retiring in 1993.
Bill had many lifelong friends, he had a great sense of humor and loved talking to people, being involved, going out to dinner, dancing, music, playing cards playing dominoes, boating and fishing.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne (Smolinsky) Bishop, his brother, Charles, and his sisters Margaret Griffith and Lillian Weber.
He is survived by the love of his life partner Betsy Dailey, and his much-loved children Carol Morton (husband Glenn) of Homosassa, FL, William Bishop (wife Victoria) of Beverly Hills, FL, Diane Granata (husband Roland) of Millerton, PA, David Bishop (wife Wendy) of Inverness, FL, Michael Bishop of Bath, PA, and Darren Bishop of Bradenton, FL. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Melissa, Matthew, Karissa, Brittany, Lee, Tahlia, Roland, April, DJ, and Michael; and 11 great-grandchildren: Luke, Clara, Alex, Mackenzie, Derick, Alexis, Shyanne, Tyler, Erika, Greyson and Siddalee; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 16th at 1:00 PM at Grace Memorial Funeral Home. The family requests no flowers
