Virginia Lowman's Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Virginia Helderman Lowman. She was a devoted woman of God, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Virginia was born on February 18, 1929, in Lenoir, North Carolina, to WC & Mary Gladys Helderman, and was the 5th of 9 children. She had 8 siblings: Eugene, Jack, Carroll, John Edward, Hershel, Margaret, William Carey, and Franklin.
On December 23rd 1951, Virginia married the love of her life, Earl Jr Lowman, whom she met in North Carolina. They had six children together and were married for 36 years before Earl passed away in 1988. Virginia was a loving and caring mother who enjoyed spending time with her children, taking them to the park for picnics, she loved traveling and traveled all over the country.
In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Virginia was also a talented cook who loved serving her family her famous chicken and dumplings, cornbread, and snowball cookies. She had a sweet tooth and enjoyed indulging in her favorite treats.
Virginia was a caregiver not only to her family but also to her mother, siblings, and friends. She was always there to lend a helping hand and provide comfort and support when needed. Virginia was also an avid reader of the Bible, loved going fishing, playing hand and foot (sometimes cheating and making up her own rules), playing bingo, and enjoying a McDonald's McRib.
Virginia will be remembered for her faith in Jesus, caring nature, her delicious cooking, her love of simple pleasures, and her willingness to speak her mind.
She passed away peacefully on July 15, 2023, leaving behind 6 children; Rocky, Steve (Darlene), Carlton (Patrice), David, Donald, Sandra (Charles), 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Hershel and Franklin (Rosalie), Jack's wife Edith, and a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A visitation will be held at Grace Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home on Monday, July 24, 2023 starting at 6pm followed by a funeral service at 7pm. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, July 25,2023 at 11am.
