Thomas M. Nesmith Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas M. Nesmith, Jr., 84, of Hudson, FL, passed away at his home on March 16th, 2011. Tom was born in Binghamton, NY, on April 4, 1926. He was the son of the late Thomas M. Sr., and Edna (Ashcraft) Nesmith. Tom moved to Hudson, FL from Kinnelon, NJ, 32 years ago along with his wife Polly, who passed away in January of 2010. They had been happily married for 65 years. Tom served in the US Army, Infantry, in WWII. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and worked for Southeast Bank, as Head of Maintenance, until retirement. Tom loved music and sang with the Barbershop Quartet for many years in New Jersey. He also sang in the church choir. Other hobbies included restoring old cars, especially Studebakers. He also liked trains and collecting John Deere memorabilia. He was a faithful member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, where he had served as trustee.Tom was a wonderful, loving person, and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Raymond Terry Nesmith and his wife Donna, of Winston-Salem, NC, and his daughter Judy Walker and her husband Adrian of Spring Hill, FL. Grandchildren, Michael Bylsma and his wife Carla, and their daughter Jessica, Angela Werkheiser and her husband Ernie, and their children Adrianna & Jacob, David Nesmith of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Sheila McCabe, and her children Zachary, Gavin, Kaitlyn and Aiden. He is also survived by his sisters Doris Shaw, Jean Yeardon and Wilma Johannson.In addition to his wife Polly, and his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brother Norman.Services were held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Grace Memorial Funeral Home.
