Terry G. Austin's Obituary
Terry G. Austin passed away on March 9, 2026 at Bayonet Point Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Nancy Austin, with whom he shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Terry spent over three decades self‑employed in the auto parts industry, building his business on honesty, dedication, and an exceptional knowledge of the trade. His integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and customers throughout the years.
He lived a life filled with the things he loved most: country music, blackjack, golf, hunting, fishing, and above all, his family. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, Terry was well known in the shooting community. He was an upstanding member of the Genesee County Skeet League, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, and a lifelong member of the New York State Skeet Shooting Association. His outstanding talent earned him a remarkable achievement—he ranked 8th in the world in skeet shooting.
After relocating to Florida, Terry became a beloved presence in the local golf community. For the past eight years, he proudly led three golf leagues and was honored to achieve eights holes‑in‑one, a testament to both his passion and his skill.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his six children: Brett Kelly, Chris Kelly, Shawn McClellan, Susan Wood, Melinda Kelly Smith, and Paul Bogart; along with 17 grandchildren and 19 great‑grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings: Douglas Austin, Sandra MacDonald, David “Dave” Austin, Rebecca Austin, and Lynn Winn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mable Austin, and by his daughter, Colleen Gardner.
Terry will be remembered for his kindness, humor, loyalty, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the countless memories cherished by his family and many friends who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made directly to the family or via their gofundme page to help offset the unexpected funeral costs.
