Tai Kum Um's Obituary
Tai Kun Um, 87, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on December 7, 2025. Born on January 10, 1938, in Seoul, South Korea, he was the beloved son of the late Moon Hyun Um and Dong Soo Kim. Mr. Um lived a life full of curiosity and joy.
He found happiness in simple pleasures—casting a line while fishing, getting lost in a good book, enjoying a round of golf, and collecting unique treasures that reflected his appreciation for life’s details. His warmth and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Sue Um; his loving children, Alice Um Kope and her husband, Michael, Ben Um, and Zandra Trull and her husband, Matthew; his cherished grandson, Andrew Kope; and his siblings, Tae Hoa Kim, Tae Yoon Eom, and Jae Schemm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that remembrances be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, honoring Mr. Um’s spirit and values.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Grace Memorial Gardens, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.
Mr. Um’s legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
