Celebrating the Life of Susanna H Paul
June 4th, 1954 – May 17th, 2026
Susanna H Paul believed that every classroom could strengthen a community, and she spent her life proving it.
Born in Staten Island, NY, Susanna began teaching for the New York City Public School system in 1986. Her first classroom was in Fort Green, Brooklyn and her last was at IS 2 on Staten Island. From that first day forward, she shared knowledge with steady purpose and showed students that learning could open doors for everyone. Her work in education stands as a lasting contribution to the neighborhoods she served.
At home, Susanna loved board games, visiting flea markets, caring for animals—especially cats—and cooking up meals that drew us all to the table. These simple pleasures kept her connected to friends and family and offered familiar gathering points for many shared memories. Time spent together was always her favorite pastime.
Those close to Susanna remember her as resilient, kind, intelligent, creative, and generous. Each trait shaped both her teaching style and her everyday interactions in ways that lifted others. She met challenges with calm resolve and greeted successes with quiet gratitude.
Susanna is survived by her daughter Meredith Dickson, son-in-law Greg Dickson, grandchildren Arielle, Maggie, and Stevie, great-grand-daughter Mila, her brother William, and her sister Elizabeth as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Deborah. The family takes comfort in knowing that Susanna’s influence endures in every life she touched.
Susanna passed away at Tampa General in Brooksville, Florida. Her commitment to service, her love of learning, and her generous spirit form a legacy the community will continue to celebrate and remember.
