When my mom passed unexpectedly in 1986, I was an only child facing a world that suddenly felt so lonely. Steve was only 16, yet he stepped into my life like the brother I never had — protective, kind, and full of quiet strength. His care and compassion wrapped around me at a time when I needed it most, and those acts of love have stayed with me my whole life.
Though the years and miles kept us from seeing each other often, Steve has always lived in my heart. To his mom, his wife, and his family — please know how much he meant to me, and how deeply grateful I am for the way he showed up for me when I was a child. His kindness helped shape the person I am today, and I will carry his memory with love, always.
Auntie Margaret, Chris, and Shelby — I hope you find comfort in knowing Steve’s joy reached far beyond your home, and that his warmth will be remembered and cherished by all who were lucky enough to be loved by him.
