Sondra Ruth Rosenberg's Obituary
Sondra Ruth Rosenberg, beloved, daughter of Israel and Rose Jacob, wife of Marvin, mother of Deborah and Bruce, mother in law of Yvette, grandmother of Kenneth, Amanda, Anthony, Jerry, and Michael.
Born and raised an Orthodox Jew in the Brooklyn of the depression and Holocaust years, her greatest passion and accomplishment was to ease the pain and suffering she saw around her. A swimmer and pianist in High School, Sondra passed up a scholarship to Julliard to become a nurse. She married the love of her life shortly after graduating from the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital school of nursing with her RN.
She was a devoted wife and mother, still finding time to pursue her love of music and the arts, and her own education. She graduated cum laude from the New York Institute of Technology in Community Mental Health, receiving honors from Psi Chi, Nu Epsilon Tau, and the NYIT professional women's group.
After Marvin retired and they moved to Florida, together they were instrumental in developing the Hernando Symphony, were active members of Temple Beth David, Stage West, and the Florida Ombudsmen Coucil.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren, and will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She truly was an Eshet Chayil, a woman of valor, whose worth was far above rubies and pearls.
