Sherri Leigh Huggett's Obituary
Sherri Leigh Huggett, 62, of Aripeka, FL, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and later a proud resident of Florida, Sherri lived a life filled with love, laughter, and strength.
Family was always at the center of Sherri’s world. Her greatest accomplishment was her son, Austin Gibbons, with whom she shared a deep and loving bond, and his wife, Jenn, who became like a daughter to her. She cherished her role as “bonus mom” to Jessica Fils, Tyler Harris, and Hunter Harris. She found endless joy in being “G” to her beloved grandson, Camden, the light of her life. Whether cheering from the sidelines of his football games or simply spending time together, Camden held her heart. She was also blessed with her bonus grandchildren, Jada, John Luke, and Jett, who brought her much happiness.
Sherri was the devoted daughter of Arlyne Gorman, her best friend, and is survived by her loving siblings: Vicki (Mike) Boruta, Lance (Gay) Huggett, and Kim (Mike) Stone. She was a proud and caring aunt to Michael, Andrew (Alex), Kyle, Casey, and Luke. She shared her life and adventures with her partner, Jeff Meng, and leaves behind a large, loving extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles in the Arrighy family, along with countless great friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Huggett.
Sherri’s passions were many—she loved riding motorcycles through the mountains, watching sunsets, being near horses, listening to thunderstorms, and cheering on her Tampa Bay Lightning with a loud, “Go Bolts!” Every year on family vacation, she looked forward to our Family Feud game nights, where her laughter and playful spirit always shined. Above all, her greatest joy was being surrounded by the people she loved most.
In her more recent years, Sherri lived with her son and his family, where she found endless happiness surrounded by their love. Sherri was a true warrior, facing life’s challenges with strength and grace.
Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her loved ones, friends, and caregivers who walked alongside her with compassion and tenderness. She will be remembered always for her passion, her love, her laughter, and the way she made every moment with family unforgettable.
Due to Sherri’s admiration and respect for our United States veterans her family asks that, in lieu of flowers, a donation in her name be made to the charity “Homes For Our Troops”.
