Ruth C. Wood's Obituary
Ruth Claire Wood 71, went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2019 after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for eight years.
Ruth was born to Alexander and Mabel Black on February 12, 1948 in Springfield, MA. Ruth extensively traveled the world as a child and young adult. Ruth would go on to become a registered nurse eventually earning her master’s degree. Her loving heart would always be on display in her chosen career field as shed never meet a person she didn’t try to help. She would marry the love of her life Bill Wood on September 21, 1984 and become a step mom to Aimee and Andrew Wood. Bill and Ruth welcomed Ally on June 2, 1987. In the summer of 1992 the family would relocate to Spring Hill, FL. She ended her career working at Hernando Pasco Hospice as a visiting nurse. She brought patients and families joy and peace at the end of their journeys. Ruth was a lover of all things Disney and never met a store she didn’t like. Ruth was an avid reader of romance novels, a love she shared with her family. She could spend hours in the used book store and never grow tired. Her perfect day was one spent with desert, books, and a sunset.
She is survived by her loving husband Dustin (Bill) Wood. Her daughter Alexandria (Ally) and husband John Busby; grandchildren: Ella, Landon, Aiden and Kinzlee. Step-daughter Aimee and husband Matt Bernardo; grandchildren; Zak and Shane. Step-son Andrew and wife Heather Wood; grandchildren: Bryanna, Dustin, Tylor, Amanda, Destanee, and Madelyn; great grandchildren: Audryela and Oliver. She is survived by family and friends whose life she changed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hudson Beach Pavilion 6345 Clark St.
Hudson, FL 34667 on March 23, 2019 at 6:30pm. To celebrate her life, we will be sharing memories, desserts, a sunset, and a lantern send off. Please wear purple, (Ruth’s favorite color) in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
