Robert Elwood Moore's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Elwood Moore November 5, 1939 – September 12, 2025
Robert “Bob” Elwood Moore, 85, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on November 5, 1939, Bob lived a full and meaningful life, defined by his unwavering kindness, steady presence, and deep devotion to family, service, and community.
Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962, achieving the rank of Corporal. He went on to build a long and successful career with United States Gypsum (USG), retiring in 2001 as the National Transportation Manager. His professionalism, and steady leadership earned him the respect of colleagues across the company. His dedication to leadership and mentorship began early as a Boy Scout in Bellmawr, New Jersey and later as the Scoutmaster of Troop 416 in Washingtonville, NY, where he guided and inspired many young men.
A man who loved the open road, Bob and his wife spent their married years traveling across the country with their children and grandchildren. Along the way, they joined various RV groups, including NCHA/FCRV, the Winnie-Gators, the Go-See-Um-Sams, and FMCA. He treasured the freedom of travel, the spirit of adventure, and the friendships he formed over the years. While at home Bob was also an active member of the American Legion and a member of Carlson Methodist Church in LaBelle, Florida, where he found fellowship with others who walked with the Lord.
He will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and gentle humor — a life well-lived and a heart well-shared. As a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, Bob’s legacy will endure in the many lives he touched. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather whose wisdom, kindness and sharp wit will be remembered always; whether through a well-timed joke or a playful remark.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Emma Eldridge Moore; his sons Robert E. Moore Jr. (Laura) and Thomas E. Moore (Kerry); his daughter Elizabeth D. Coniglio (Louis); and his grandchildren Rebecca Coniglio, Alyssa Coniglio, Adam Moore, Brianna Coniglio, Enya Moore, Cassandra Coniglio, Sonya Moore, and Kyla Moore. He is also survived by his sisters Mildred Shakespeare and Patricia Schukay (Paul); sisters-in-law Sharyn Schlitter (John) and Naomi Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews spanning three generations. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Courter Moore, and his father, Elwood B. Moore.
A man of strong character, Bob valued family above all else. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his generosity of heart, and the example he set through a life well lived.
His spirit, his stories, and his example will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In keeping with his wishes, a private service will be held at Grace Memorial Gardens, Hudson, FL on Saturday, September 20, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Carlson Memorial Church, 310 Campbell St. Labelle, FL 33935 in his memory.
