Robert Wayne Dorr's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Dorr embarked on his final journey on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the age of 73. In his final days he was surrounded by family and loved ones who were by his side until he was called upon to enter his final resting place in the heavens. Bob battled many health conditions over the past several years and remained the fighter that we all had known him to be. He met each day with a smile and determination to make that day the best day. Bob was courageous in the face of adversity and stayed strong to the very end, wanting his family to not be sad but to embrace each other and cherish the love of family.
Bob was born on June 30, 1950 in Hempstead, New York. He was the son of late Howard Dorr and Gerda “Trudy” Runge-Dorr. Bob served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a commercial fisherman for many years, then later became a fence contractor. He met the love of his life Terry at John’s Pass in St. Petersburg, Florida, she became his “First-Mate” and they built a beautiful life and family together. He always had a passion for fishing, beekeeping and spending quality time making memories with his Grand•Babe•Bees. The sea never left Captain Bob’s heart, his famous words were “I’m going fishing!” Many knew him for his unique sense of humor and a few exaggerated fish stories.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Terry Dorr, his son Matthew (Melissa) Ross, his daughters: Kacy (Micah) Short, Kelly Dorr, Kari (Rustin) Kilburg, his grandchildren: Ava Speckhardt, Mylah Short, Kinley Short and Evan Ross and his Brother Bill Dorr.
