Dr. Rita Greenberg, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 2, 2024.
Rita was born March 28, 1938, the only child to Mary and Irvin Hoffspiegal. She grew up in Paterson, NJ and attended Montclair State University where she received her Master’s in Education. She was a teacher in Nutley, NJ for 40 years. Late in life, she earned her Doctorate in Education.
Rita married the love of her life, Seymour Greenberg on February 16, 1968. They resided in Wayne, NJ, where they raised their family and retired to New Port Richey, FL.
Rita loved so many things in life, none greater than the love of her family. She enjoyed traveling, (especially cruises) shopping, music, dancing, gambling and her animals. She volunteered at the Red Cross and animal shelters throughout her life and enjoyed actively participating in the Red Hat Society.
Those gone before her but whom will forever be in the hearts of our family are her loving husband Seymour (Cye), her parents Irvin and Mary, their beloved daughter Barbara, and their Great Granddaughter Gracie-Ann.
All she wanted these last few years was to live long enough to make sure her granddaughter, Danielle, was old enough to remember her. She was a patriotic women, who took pride in raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren.
Those left to carry on her memory are her son and daughter-in-law Colonel (Retired) Michael and Jacqueline Greenberg; her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Jon Rabideau; her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Helen Greenberg; her grandchildren and their significant others: Danielle (Michael), Brett (Scarlett), Brittany (Travis), Nastassja (Dean), Daly (Deanna), Jason (Keyla) and Karlee (Tony) and her great grandchildren: Aidan, Arianna, Landon, Daniel, Jackson, Sienna, Anna-Grace, Thomas, Nettie, Payton, Rhett, and Willow.
