Richard Franklin Gainer's Obituary
Richard Franklin Gainer, age 96, of Land O Lakes, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Franklin and Lucille Gainer, Richard lived a life full of purpose, passion, and faith. He was a minister of the gospel, a wise teacher biblical language, an adventurer at heart, and a fisherman who found peace in nature. Known for his warm spirit and welcoming heart, Richard never met a stranger—his kindness and stories left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered.
Since the passing of his beloved wife, Lois, in 2020, Richard often said, “It would be a good night for the Lord to take me home.” On that September morning, his prayer was gently answered.
He is survived by his daughters: Janet Register and her husband John Lopez, Janice Thompson and her husband Richard, and Victoria Johnson and her husband Charles; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Violene Heatwole; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held by the family. A memorial celebration of Richard’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 27th at Tampa Bay Presbyterian Church 19911 Bruce B Downs Blvd Tampa, FL 33647.
