Richard Alan Carlson's Obituary
Richard Alan Carlson, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at his residence in Hudson, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Judith L. Carlson (nee Strauch), with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on February 12, 1948 in the bustling heart of Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Harry A. Carlson and Marie M. Carlson (nee Vansclow).
Richard honorably served in the United States Navy for six years, attaining the rank of E4. Following his military service, he worked as a high-pressure vessel welder at Wisconsin Steel for five years and then at Acme Steel Mill for nearly ten years.
He had a knack for fishing, a keen eye for collecting antiques, and a deep love for listening to old records on his crank record player. His favorite pastime though was spending cherished moments with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life; He relished every opportunity to share his passions and wisdom with them.
He was also a proud member of the Lighthouse for the Blind, an origination that provides employment, support, and training opportunities for people who are visually impaired.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Judith L. Carlson; his daughters: Patricia Benko, Dawn Diaz (Carl), Cynthia Andjelic (Boris), and Jennifer Brofford (Tommy); thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his brother, Harry Paul Carlson. He is predeceased by his parents and his daughter, Tina Lynn Carlson.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
