Peter R. McElhinney's Obituary
Peter R. McElhinney, 88, passed away on May 14th, 2025 at Hospice Sturgill House, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the husband of Joan McElhinney. They shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Woburn MA, he was the son of Edward and Lillian McElhinney. He graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was employed at Pan American World Airways as a mechanic supervisor.
He was a member of Saint Theresa’s Catholic church. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and playing pool. He will be remembered for his humble, kind, and giving personality.
He is survived by his wife Joan McElhinney. He is also survived by his children Peter E. McElhinney (Latifa) of Cary, NC, Steven McElhinney (Ann) of Medway, MA, Paul McElhinney (Cindy) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Stacey Chinchilla (Hector) of Brooksville, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sara Diaz (Rolando), Fatimah (Jacobie Williams), Salma, Zainab, Julia Williamson (Harrison), Jack, Erin, Cole, Jill, Franklin Chinchilla, and Carmen Chinchilla. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Aniyah McElhinney-Williams and Elias Diaz.
The funeral service will be held on May 21, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church at 1107 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL 34606. The internment will be immediately following at Grace Memorial Gardens in Hudson Florida. The viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM on May 21st at Grace Memorial Gardens.
