Miryam Duarte's Obituary
Mrs. Miryam Duarte, 86, of Spring Hill passed away on June 29, 2022 under the watchful care of Hospice. She was born April 4, 1936 in Bogota, Colombia to the late Jose Antonio and Hercilia Benitez. She immigrated to the United States in 1965. While living in Queens, New York, she worked as a fashion designer and seamstress. She was so skilled at her work, she could look at a dress and be able to create it. She was also a beautician. After moving to Florida in 1978, she and her husband Peter bought Royal Carwash in Holiday, which they ran for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was always happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
Miryam was a believer in Christ. She worked tirelessly in the church. She taught Sunday School, worked in the nursery, and was a charter member of Suncoast Bible Church, helping out wherever she was needed.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Peter.
She is survived by son Nestor and his wife Michelle, son Leonardo and his wife Saralyn, daughter Nancy Matherson, son Steven and his wife Erin; brother Luis Antonio Benitez; grandchildren Mireya and her husband Seth, Ariana and her husband Jon, Alicia and her fiancé Shane, Jordan, Trevor and his wife Heidi, Gabriel, Lola, and Isabella; along with nieces, nephews, and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 23 at 11:00 AM at Hope Community Bible Church (13241 Spring Hill Dr, Spring Hill, FL 34609).
