Michael Angelo Pontecorvo's Obituary
Michael Angelo Pontecorvo, beloved husband, father of four boys, seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017 in Spring Hill, FL. Michael was born to Grace (nee Fiermonte) and Michael Pontecorvo on August 16, 1928 in New York, New York. He was one of the last volunteers to join the Navy before the end of World War II. Upon completing his service, he met the love of his life, Mary Kubin when she sat in his chair, and then in his lap, at a dance in Astoria Queens. They married on Nov 20, 1950, during a hurricane and raised four sons, Michael J., Brian, Daniel, and Bart. Mike worked for 25 years at the Long Island Railroad, starting as a ticket clerk and rising to become head of budget and expenditure for the maintenance of equipment department. After retirement, Mike and Mary moved to Spring Hill, where, since 1988, they have enjoyed an active life with friends met on the golf course and at the St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church. Mike is survived by his sons, Michael, Brian and Bart Pontecorvo. Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, his generosity to friends and for the confidence and inspiration he gave his children to be the best they could be. We will miss you. There will be a memorial service December 2 at 11 AM at St. Mark’s Presbyterian, 7922 S. Route. 52, Hudson FL. 34667.
