Maureen P. Vecere's Obituary
Maureen P. Vecere, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Heather Hill, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late John N. Vecere Sr, with whom she shared 38 beautiful years of marriage.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Maureen was the cherished daughter of the late Maurice and Clara May Poulter (née Riley). In 1988, she and John made Pasco County, Florida their home after moving from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shortly after, Maureen began a 24-year career as a dedicated clerk with Pasco County Utilities, where she was known for her reliability and warm spirit.
A woman of deep faith, Maureen was a devoted member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. She found comfort and community in her rosary prayer group, where she formed lasting friendships and shared her spiritual strength.
In her later years, Maureen found joy and companionship at Regency Residence – Sky Active Living. She often described it as “Heaven on Earth,” and fully embraced the vibrant community life there. Whether playing bean bag baseball or rummy-Q, she brought laughter and kindness to every gathering.
Maureen will be remembered for her boundless generosity and compassionate heart. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back — always ready to help others, no matter the need.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Monica Sikalos (Stavros) and Tina Marie Walker (Timothy); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many dear friends from both the St. James rosary prayer group and Regency Residence. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John N. Vecere Sr; her son, John Vecere Jr; her brother, Maurice Poulter Jr; and her sister, Joyce Poulter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gulfside Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, causes close to Maureen’s heart.
