Mary A. Pontecorvo's Obituary
Mary Ann Pontecorvo, beloved wife, mother of four boys, seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter passed away on August 9, 2016 in Spring Hill, FL after a brief battle with blood cancer. Mary was born to Josephine Kubin (nee Konvalinka) and Joseph Kubin on November 5, 1925 in Astoria, Queens New York, where she met, and on Nov 20, 1950, during a hurricane, married her one and only true love Michael A. Pontecorvo. Their lifelong devotion to each other has been an inspiration to all who know them, most especially her sons, Michael J., Brian, Daniel, and Bart. After raising her boys, Mary returned to the workforce as an Administrative Assistant for the Centereach, Long Island school district and then as an assistant to the Suffolk County Commissioner of Human Rights. After retirement, Mary and Mike moved to Spring Hill, where, since 1988, they have enjoyed an active life with friends met on the golf course and at the St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church. Mary is survived by her husband, Michael A., and three of her sons, Michael, Brian and Bart Pontecorvo. Mary will be best remembered for her mischievous smile and the love she gave us. We will miss you.
There will be a memorial service September 10 at 11 AM at St. Mark’s Presbyterian, 7922 S. Route. 52, Hudson FL. 34667. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in her name to St. Mark’s.
- There will be a reception at the church after the service. To help the family and church order adequate food and drinks, please respond by email to [email protected] if you are planning to attend.
