Mary Morgan's Obituary
Mary “Peggy” Morgan, 63, passed away on January 24, 2026, at the Dr. Weil Center for Hospice Care in Port Richey, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary fought with strength and determination until the very end.
Born on March 6, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph J. Slampak and Patricia E. Slampak.
Peggy dedicated more than 20 years of her life to serving others as a social worker with BayCare Behavioral Health. She touched countless lives throughout her career, offering compassion, guidance, and understanding to anyone who needed it. Her heart for helping others was evident both in and out of work—selfless, kind, and unfailingly generous.
Peggy lived life with joy and a spirited sense of adventure. She loved riding Harleys with her fiancée, Tim Tafoya, and she always enjoyed dressing up and going out dancing. At home, her pride and joy was her beloved dog, Daisy Mae, her faithful furry companion for 11 years, along with her cherished 25 year old Quaker Parrot, Buddy.
She was known for her big heart and her vibrant personality. She could be a little feisty at times, but she always meant well and showed love in everything she did.
Peggy is survived by the love of her life, Tim Tafoya; her five sisters: Lori(Robert), Tina, Lisa, Cindy, and Katy (Dennis); and by her nine nieces and nephews: Lucas, Michelle, Charmaine, Danielle, Jacqueline, Ben, Rachel, Rylan, and Aubrey. She also leaves her beloved dog, Daisy Mae and her parrot, Buddy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Patricia.
Peggy’s legacy of compassion, strength, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
