Mary Mangold's Obituary
Mary Margaret Mangold, 76, of Hudson, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 9, 1949, to Bernie and Abigail Howell, Mary grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where her strong Irish roots, warm heart, and lively humor began shaping the woman so many came to cherish. In 1976, she moved to Florida, where she built a beautiful life for herself and her family. A devoted homemaker while raising her children, she later found joy and purpose as a day care teacher for 10–15 years. Her love for children was endless, and she touched countless young lives with her patience, kindness, and genuine care.
Mary was the true definition of a people person—she would give the shirt off her back, had a heart of gold, and carried a humorous spirit marked by her many funny sayings and iconic “Johney Miciduh” Irish jig. She enjoyed simple pleasures: going out with friends for coffee and conversation, walking the beach at sunset, sitting outside with a good book, and hosting holidays and celebrations for her family. Nothing made her happier than seeing her children and grandchildren together.
Travel was another joy in her life, especially with her two closest friends, Joan and Irene—affectionately known as “The Three Amigos.” Together they explored Ireland, Paris, and countless Florida beaches, creating laughter-filled memories that will be treasured forever.
In a beautiful twist of fate, Mary rekindled her relationship with her childhood sweetheart, Abby, around 2023. Their love story came full circle, and she spent her final years—and her final moments—with the love of her life by her side.
Mary is survived by her beloved partner, Abby; her sons, Christian (Jangmu) and Thomas (Geena); her six grandchildren: Justin, Kierstin, Kendall, Morgan, Toby, and Reese; her great-grandson, Julian; and her sister, Carolee (Mickey), along with their children—Michael, Joseph, Mary, Peter, and Grace, lovingly known as The Koczko Family. She leaves behind dear friends, cherished memories, and a legacy of love, humor, and generosity.
Mary will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
