Mary Ann Bohn's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Ann (Keefe) Bohn, 80, of Port Richey passed away on April 19, 2023. She was born on June 28, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN to Thomas and Florence Keefe. She was surrounded by her children: Sandra Lea (Dean) Brown; Audrey Ann (Dean) French; Barbara Jean (Garry) Christensen; Gregory Alexander (Kristin); Mary Ann (John) Strohmayer; grandchildren Timothy (Katie), Heather, Amanda (Dave), Jessica, Daniel, Brandon, Chase, Meg, Amber, Alissa, Mary, Sarah, John "Jack", Joshua, LucyAnne, Grace; great-grandchildren Taylor, Ava, and Scarlett, her beloved sister Kay (Mike) Busch and many nieces and nephews. She nurtured a life of love and service.
Mary was the middle child between Kay and Lonnie, and the three sisters of the Keefe household had an incredible bond of sisterhood. They grew up in the home their father built near Medicine Lake in Plymouth, MN. She was a graduate of St. Anthony Catholic Schools and began a brief career in health care, but then she met Lyle and they were married on May 2nd, 1964 and her career changed to building a life nurturing their 5 children in their first home on Stevens Avenue. A decade later they moved to a hobby farm in Princeton, MN where friendships continued to expand on 40 acres with animals, gardening, community theater, hosting international students, school activities, and a return to college herself after their children were off on their adventures. She resumed her nursing career at Fairview Hospitals in Princeton connecting with the amazing caregivers who often witnessed her God-given sense for understanding patients’ needs. Mary and Lyle shared a life that went around the globe. They were able to travel in Europe, drive through Ireland, watch ice bergs crash into the Pacific, and cruise through the Panama Canal locks. They nestled into their retirement home at Senate Manor on Florida’s Gulf Coast where they continued to add new friends. They enjoyed outings to dinner theater, cruises with friends, and hosting visits to all who were willing to listen to them brag about their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She tenaciously accepted her feud with cancer for the last ten years and was released to the Lord on Wednesday, April 19th. Mary fostered her love for education through faith, fellowship, and science.
Any memorial giving to cancer research or patient support programs is always appreciated.
