Marinos P. Zafiratos' Obituary
Marinos P. Zafiratos, 86, passed away on January 23, 2026, at his residence in Port Richey, Florida, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of the late Ekaterina Zafiratos, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. After her passing, Marinos often spoke of the day they would be reunited, a thought that brought him peace and comfort.
Born in Greece on July 8, 1939, to the late Paraskeva and Victoria Zafiratos (née Christoforatos), Marinos spent his early years there before immigrating to the United States in 1967. Determined to build a better life for his family, he worked tirelessly and selflessly, ensuring his loved ones always had what they needed. He sent his children to Catholic school, made sure they had new clothes, and provided opportunities—such as trips to Greece every other summer—often choosing to stay behind and work instead of taking time off for himself. Everything he had, he earned through hard work and unwavering dedication.
Marinos was known for his gentle spirit and kind heart. Soft spoken and humble, he rarely raised his voice—but when he did, it carried the weight of respect. He would help anyone in need, even if it meant giving the shirt off his back. Above all, he lived for his wife and daughters, finding his greatest joy in the love of his family.
He enjoyed gardening, singing, cooking, and listening to old Greek music. He loved spending time with his family, playing Uno, and relaxing with his favorite TV programs—including anything on the Greek Channel, The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. His home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the companionship of his beloved pets.
Marinos is survived by his daughters, Victoria Rody (Moises) and Maria Vega (Shane); his grandchildren: Jonathan, Katerina, Aaron, Hailey, and Joshua; and his sisters, Nikki Loukatos of New York and Irene Papadatos of Greece. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings Nicholas, Spiro, and Maria; his parents Paraskeva and Victoria; and his cherished wife Ekaterina.
Marinos leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love—one that will continue to live on through all who were fortunate enough to know him.
