Lois E. Schofield's Obituary
Lois E. Schofield was born March 18, 1933 and passed away May 8, 2026 at the age of 93. She was raised in Stonetown/Ringwood, NJ and graduated from Butler High School and Berkeley Secretarial School. Lois married George B. Schofield December 12, 1953 and became a stay at home Mom to Jayne (Dave), Abby (Jerry), Penny and Tom. In time, she became a grandmother to Christopher, Kristen, Kyla and Chloe, and great grandmother to Everly.
While raising her children she took correspondence courses in journalism and succeeded in publishing a variety of short articles/stories. When the children were grown, she returned to work as both a Legal and Executive Secretary. She eventually enrolled in college to finish her degree and graduated with a BA in journalism from UMASS, Amherst, MA in 1986. Lois then published 2 books titled, “61 Threadneedle Street” a historical novel about the relationship between Benjamin Franklin and his son William, and “The Tree In The Meadow: The Adventures of Toby and Tish” her childhood account of raising a beloved fawn on the family's farm. To aid in research for her first book, George and Lois traveled to Threadneedle St. in London, as well as related sites in NYC, Philadelphia and NJ.
Lois loved animals of every kind, as well as playing tennis and golf. She was also a history buff and a true patriot. She was a life-long Episcopalian and very involved at All Saint's Church, South Hadley, MA. Then, following the death of George after almost 60 years of marriage, she relocated to Spring Hill, FL and became a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
