Linda Scallions Jackson's Obituary
Linda Scallions Jackson, 76, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at her residence in Weeki Wachee, Florida. She was the wife of Joseph Glenn Jackson. They celebrated their 23rd Anniversary on Christmas Eve with their traditional homemade chili and carrot cake.
Born in Holladay, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Buford Odell Scallions and Neva Mae (Johnson) Scallions. She received a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University and then continued her education at Austin Peay University, earning a Master’s Degree in Education and Psychology. Linda worked as a Language Arts Teacher at Christian County Middle School in Hopkinsville, Kentucky for 15 years. She then moved to Florida and taught at Cutler Ridge Middle School in Miami, Florida for 18 years.
With the move to Upstate South Carolina in 2004, Linda retired from teaching and became the Property Manager for rental units that she and Joe owned. Her tenants loved her, “Miss Linda” they would say when she came to collect rent. She really enjoyed managing the design and selection of paint, appliances and fixtures for the homes that the Jackson’s were flipping.
November of 2023, Joe and Linda returned to Florida to enjoy the retirement years.
She was a member of the German American Club of Spring Hill, FL, the Glen Lakes Italian Renaissance Club, and the Glen Lakes Social Club.
Linda enjoyed travelling. In 2024, she completed visiting each of the 50 States of America and visited all of the Islands of Hawaii. She also traveled extensively throughout Europe, with a special fondness for the Alsace-Lorraine Regions of Germany and France and also Ireland, where she visited her Dad’s family-side hometown of Donegal. She visited all of the Caribbean Islands except for Bonaire and Dominica. She really loved visiting the Barrier Reef off Placencia Belize; she made four separate trips there. Linda loved the two trips that she made to Tahiti and Fiji; it was so beautiful. She also visited Australia. The Great Barrier Reef off of North Australia was a sight to behold, Tasmania was neat as well. She recently visited The Galapagos Islands in Ecuador and Machu Picchu in Peru.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Joe Jackson; son Nathan Robinson (Melissa) of Longview, TX; daughter Lindsey Robinson of Tampa FL and her grand-dogs Dolly and Frankie; stepson Brian Jackson and grandson Austin Jackson of Santa Clara, CA; stepdaughter Brandi Jackson Hodges (Kevin) of Nashville, TN; and brother Steven Scallions of TN. She is predeceased by her loving father and mother as well as her sister, Ruth Scallions Wilson.
Dear friends Jan and Hope and all Linda’s fellow Cutler Ridge teachers and friends are planning a celebration of life on Linda’s 77th Birthday, April 18th, at Black Point Marina, Homestead FL at 3PM.
Missing her dearly are friends of 50+ years Judy + John of Granbury, TX and Martha + John of Hopkinsville. KY
In keeping with her wishes, her ashes will be spread on the barrier reef of Belize later this year
