Josephine "Jo" McVey's Obituary
Josephine “Jo” McVey 11/15/1922 – 11/18/2020
Saying goodbye to a mother is never easy, even when she has been “gone” for some time due to dementia, but with the love and support from family and friends we will get through this sorrowful time.
Jo peacefully passed away on November 18, 2020 at her extended care facility in Spring Hill, FL at the age of 98. She was born in Fairview, NJ and lived in Fort Lee, NJ before moving to Florida in 1981. She resided in Hudson, FL since 1986.
She was the loving wife for 72 years of James McVey who predeceased her in 2015. She is survived by her children Jim (& Wendy), Betty Ann, and Bill (& Anne); six grandchildren Merry, Joy (& Brad), Maura (& Chad), Danielle (& Michael), Brianne (&Theo) and William (& Amber); six great-grandchildren: Aidan, Maeve, Jude, Ariya, Evelien and Austin.
Jo’s passion was her family and this includes extended family – her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She often expressed her love for family and friends through cooking and her happiest moments were seeing her family together gathered around the dinner table. Her holiday meals were feasts, especially Christmas Eve dinners which were epic and are still talked about today. There is no doubt that whenever we eat homemade lasagna we will be thinking of her.
Due to the Covid-19 virus there will be no viewing or service at this time.
Her ashes will be interred with James at Grace Memorial Gardens in Hudson, FL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jo's memory can be made to HPH Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd. Hudson, FL 34667.
With our sincere thanks and love,
Betty Ann, Jim, Wendy, Bill & Anne
