John Joseph Nejedlo's Obituary
John J. Nejedlo, 81 years old of Shady Hills, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 30, 1943 to Donald Z. Nejedlo and Mary Jane (LeClair) Nejedlo. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. John is survived by his son Brian (Kathryn) Nejedlo, his grandchildren Caroline, Matthew, and his brothers Mike, Tom, Pete, and Paul. He was preceded in death by his wife Maryann.
He graduated high school from St. Francis De Sales Preparatory Seminary, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1961. He then attended Milwaukee School of Engineering to study computer programming and electronics before working for Allen-Bradley in Milwaukee. On May 13, 1967 he married Maryann H. Gazvoda at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Greendale, Wisconsin. After a honeymoon trip to Miami, Florida they moved to Florida where they lived in Shady Hills since 1974. In the 1980s John founded Advanced Electronics in Spring Hill, Florida. When he retired in 2005 he began raising chickens.
He was active amateur radio operator. His amateur radio call sign was WB4NOD. As a member of the Hernando County Amateur Radio Club he helped organize the annual ARRL Hamfest in Brooksville, Florida.
John was a charter life member of Aripeka Elks Lodge #2520 where he dedicated his time to charitable service. He was the Exalted Rule in 1978. For approximately 30 years he was the lodge ritual coach and the presenter of Student of the Month at Hudson High School. He was active in the Elks Hoop Shoot program for nearly 50 years having been the Florida State Hoop Shoot Chairman for a 3 year term.
He was a long-term member of St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Masaryktown, Florida where he was often the lector on Sunday mornings.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Masaryktown, Florida at 11AM. A memorial will be held immediately following at Aripeka Elks Lodge #2520 in Hudson, Florida.
An inurnment for both John and Maryann Nejedlo is planned for May 13, 2025 at Mount Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
