John J. Maio's Obituary
John Maio, passed away Friday, May, 6th, 2011 in New Port Richey.John was one of six children. Born in Brooklyn, New York on May, 20th, 1924, his Mother, Natala, was a homemaker and father, Placido, retired from the U.S. Post Office.He was the last surviving of six brothers and sisters, Tony (John's Twin), Katie, Joseph, Annie, and Leo.John went to Harron High School, and served in the Army's 305th Signal Operations Battalion. He was on active duty during WWII and fought in England, France, and Germany. He was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.During his time in the service, he continued in electrical engineering, and when he returned home, he trained at Delehanty Institute for Radio, Electronics and Television. He also trained at William Grady Trade for service and repair.After 20 years of experience in television, John opened his own repair shop on Coney Island Ave., N.Y. and later, Flash TV in Port Richey.He was married twice and has 3 children: Linda who lives in Port Richey who is trained as a Phlebotomist, Joseph who lives in VA and is an Ordained Minister, and Michael who lives in Port Richey, and works in Banking. John has 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter. His hobbies include gardening, model airplanes, fishing, and flying kites. His favorite quote is " What goes around, comes around ".A Visitation will be on Sunday, May, 8th, 2011, from 5-8pm at Grace Memorial Funeral home, 16931 U.S. Hwy. 19, Hudson, Fl, 34667A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, May, 9th, 2011, at 10am at Grace Memorial Funeral Home.
