John E. Doule's Obituary
John E. Doulé, 82, of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Middletown, NY, passed away on Thursday August 1, 2024 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, FL.
He was the husband of the late Katherine Doulé (d. 2002) with whom he spent 3 happy years of marriage and the late Gwendolyn Doulé (d. 1997) with whom he spent 20 happy years of marriage.
Born January 22, 1942 in Middletown, NY, he was the son of the late John and Irene Doulé. A 1960 graduate of Middletown Senior High School and a 1962 graduate of Morrisville College with a degree in Mechanics, he proudly served his country by volunteering to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He went on to work two jobs for many years, taking only Sundays off, to provide for his family. He was hard-working and dedicated, working in all types of weather day and night. He took pride in a job well done. He retired from Orange and Rockland Utilities in 2002 after 35 years, where he worked as a diesel mechanic.
John was a loving husband, dedicated father and proud grandfather and made the most of the time he spent with his family. When you met him, you always got his true, authentic self. With his natural ability to connect by sharing his life experiences through stories and jokes, he always made you smile!
In retirement, he moved to his dream home in Spring Hill, FL. where he lived life to the fullest, riding his two motorcycles and boating in the Gulf. He even learned to play golf and became a passionate golf enthusiast.
John is survived by his daughter, Cynthia L. DiLauro and her husband Garvis of Clinton, NY; his son Andrew J. Doulé and his wife Vicki of Nazareth, PA; six grandchildren, Benjamin, Vanessa, Grace, Abigail, Joshua, and Quinn; brother, Robert Doulé and his wife Janine of Charlotte, NC. In addition to Katherine and Gwendolyn, he is predeceased by his first wife, Carol Zalinger (d. 2022).
Visitation hours will be held on Saturday August 10, 2024 from 10 A.M.-12 Noon at the Martinez Morse Funeral Home 33 Railroad Ave. Middletown, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday August 10, 2024 at 12:30 P.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown, N.Y. The burial will follow in Howells Cemetery Howells, N.Y.
