Jess was always a giving soul. He put everyone in front of him and did it with a smile. No matter what needed to be done he did it, then went to relax in his garden.
He was a gentle and kind man and was a true patriarch of his family. While I may not have been blood I am proud that I got to spend a lot of time with Poppy.
Poppy , sadness consumed our family the day we lost you and will always linger in our hearts, the world is a darker place now that you, your wonderful personality and smile are not here to brighten our days. Life will never be the same without you but because of you and the love and strength you left behind for us to share we will continue forward. I couldn't have asked for a better grandfather because I already had the best. You started our family legacy and we will continue to build upon the foundation you made for generations to come with the same love, courage and willpower that you started it with. We will never forget you and how you would make even our darkest days shine. I love you Poppy. Rest in peace.
Poppy, you were the most genuine, caring person I have ever known. It was truly impossible to be angry or upset around you because you were always smiling, always happy. You cared for me and gave me all of your attention while I was a child and as an adult you were there if I ever needed anything. You taught me so much and I am truly grateful for the time I had with you and everything you have done for me. I will never forget the wheelbarrow rides back to your garden, beong your little helper when you picked tomatoes or sawed firewood, the great times we had at amusement parks, the smile on your face while we watched movies, or any of the other memories I have of you. I can't believe you are gone but I am happy that you can reunite with Mee-Maw. I miss you more than anyone could ever imagine. One day we will reunite and share stories. I Walked out of the store today and a white dove was sitting on a sign looking at me and talking to me I walked up to it and took pictures knowing it was you letting me know you were at peace and happy! Never did you fly away until I left to move on. All I ever wanted is for you to be happy! In all my life I have Never known a stronger man! Happy till the end! No fear! Never once Did I see you show pain. I'm not sure how you were able to take on so much yet wake up everyday with a smile ready to do whatever that day brought on rather it be good or bad. You went to rest happy ready to take on the next challenge. Someday I will join you again so you can teach me the new world again.

Poppy was the best granddad ever. He always played games with me and took me to amusement parks. I loved spending time with him. I will miss him but will talk to him every day when I pray. I love you!
Jessie was my father in law for 35 years. I have never met a stronger, sweeter man in my entire life. He amplifies the definition of a true gentleman. He will be so missed. I love you Jess. Thanks for including me as the daughter you never had.
